IRVINE, Calif., January 20, 2010 — Post Modern Edit, LLC (PME), is pleased to announce the latest addition to its division line-up: Project One Stop, providing a range of “third-eye” quality control services for airline AVOD media. The concept of a “third-eye” quality control check was originally established in the industry in the days of video tape systems. Service companies would (and still do) take delivery of all tapes destined for their airline customers and perform a QC check prior to delivery to the airline. Project One Stop (POS) provides a similar service for digital files. Services include: QC of encoded files for all types of content, metadata QC, coordination of any rejects and replacements needed and batching of files for delivery to the integrator. A POS representative also supervises rack testing at the integrator facility.
Heading the new division is Nina Plotner who joined PME two years ago after working at Inflight Productions for eight years as the Account Manager for a major U.S. carrier. “I worked closely with the airline as they launched their Panasonic eFX and eX2 systems,” commented Nina, “and it became very apparent to me that, with so much content and airline-specific details, and so many touch points, there were SO many opportunities for errors and delivery delays to occur. If the integrator identifies an error prior to or during the integration process, the time required to obtain replacement files risks impacting the delivery schedule to the airline. The obvious solution was to push the QC process upstream so that the integrator receives files that are checked, batched and ready to go.”
Since signing its first customer, Access Inflight Media, POS has been able to put the theory into practice. Joe Carreira, Managing Director of Access Inflight Media, said, “Above all POS has brought us peace of mind, knowing that we have a solution in place in California that watches out for ours and our airlines’ best interests and is able to identify and quickly react to any issue that comes up, be it the integrity of a file, the accuracy of the SDS or the extra QA at the rack testing phase. It helps identify issues before they become delays to the customer and it helps us identify any weakness in the process. In the first two cycles that POS has handled for us they have already identified and corrected several types of errors,
from those that would have been obvious at the tail end of the process to a couple that, since the implementation of the system, went unnoticed by all key players including ourselves, the integrators and the airlines.”
