About Post Modern Broadcast Studios
Green screen and Ultimatte compositing make it possible for an in-studio transmission to appear to be shot at an outside location. A news announcer who appears to be on location can throw to an inset shot at another apparent location. Both the news announcer and inset shot were actually done at Post Modern Broadcast Studios in the controlled studio environment. Backgrounds were composited from "B" roll video. These techniques can significantly reduce both cost and time required and the top-quality lighting and keying abilities of the Post Modern system mean the results are completely realistic. "The secret is in lighting the studio to match the ambient light at the location", says Studio Manager John Reynolds. Taking this concept one step further, with Post Modern Studios' 3D virtual set capabilities, there is no need to build a hard set for the news studio. A "virtual set" can be created using 3D digital compositing techniques.
